SSNIT's Self-Employed Enrollment Drive (SEED) has also made significant progress, enrolling around 128,000 self-employed individuals into the scheme. This initiative aims to extend coverage to those in the informal sector.
According to Kingsley Adjei-Manu, General Manager of Operations at SSNIT, "We have enrolled about 128,000 self-employed persons in the scheme... On average, every month we pay about GH¢400 million to about 300,000 pensioners, helping reduce old-age poverty in Ghana."
Adjei-Manu encouraged self-employed individuals and those in the informal sector to join SSNIT, emphasizing the importance of securing their financial futures.
“So far, we have enrolled about 128,000 self-employed persons in the scheme. So, we are still engaging them and getting people to enrol.”
“…So far, on average, every month we pay about GH¢400 million to about 300,000 pensioners, and that is helping reduce old-age poverty in Ghana.
