Comedian Michael Blackson slams Ghana government over investment
Accra, Ghana - Renowned American comedian and actor of Ghanaian descent, Michael Blackson, has expressed his frustration with the Ghanaian government over difficulties in recouping his investments in the country.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, Blackson revealed that he had purchased Eurobonds to support his philanthropic efforts, specifically to fund the operations of the Michael Blackson Academy, a free school he founded three years ago in Agona Nsaba.
The academy provides complimentary education to children from kindergarten to Basic 3, as well as free uniforms. Blackson had anticipated that the Eurobonds would generate returns to sustain the school's lifespan.
However, the comedian-turned-philanthropist has faced significant challenges in recovering his investment, prompting him to call out Ghana's Finance Minister.
Despite these setbacks, Blackson remains resolute in his commitment to keeping the school running, underscoring his dedication to providing quality education to underprivileged children.
Blackson's public outcry highlights concerns over Ghana's economic climate and its impact on foreign investments, sparking conversations about the government's role in supporting philanthropic initiatives.
