Attorney-General Discontinues Ambulance Case against Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa
Accra, Ghana - 29 Jan, 2025 - In a significant development, Ghana's Attorney-General and Minister of Justice has dropped the controversial ambulance case against Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa.
This move comes after the Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged the duo in a 2:1 decision, overturning the trial court's previous order.
The case, which alleged that Dr. Ato Forson and Jakpa caused a financial loss of €2.37 million to the state in a deal to procure ambulances for the Government of Ghana, has been a subject of controversy. However, with the Attorney-General's decision to discontinue the case, all further proceedings have been abandoned.
The notice issued by the Attorney-General's chambers stated that the Republic does not intend to pursue the appeal further, effectively bringing an end to the case. This development is likely to bring relief to Dr. Ato Forson and Jakpa, who have maintained their innocence throughout the proceedings.
