We assure you that we're ready for the elections- Dampare

Ghana's Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has assured the public that the police service is prepared to maintain law and order before, during, and after the December elections.

 According to him, the service is prepared to work tirelessly to ensure that Ghana triumphs at the end of the day.

Speaking at the Electoral Commission's offices in Accra on Monday August 19, 2024, he stated that the police would be dispatched to all polling stations where the exhibition exercise will take place.

“Since the commencement of the whole election process, we will be in and out of this place all in the spirit of engagement, in the spirit of working together to ensure that from the security point of view, there is peace, security, law and order before, during, and beyond the elections…We want to assure all and sundry that we are poised for what is ahead,” he stated.

The IGP additionally petitioned all political parties to stay calm while the EC works to resolve any difficulties that may arise.

“We urge them to do their part within the law and allow us to do our work within the law. So that when all is said and done Ghana will be the beneficiary,” he added.
