Man arrested for possessing EC biometric device
Samuel Yaw Koranteng, 52, was arrested and turned over to Nsawam police after being seen with a biometric verification device (BVD) belonging to Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC).
The suspect, who claims to live in Tudu, Accra, was spotted with the device, serial number VVD49976, at Nsawam on Friday, August 23, by several locals.
Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nsawam promptly assisted in his arrest and gave him over to police for further investigation.
Mark Oliver Kevor, NDC's Eastern Regional Chairman, confirmed the arrest to Channel One News and urged the Inspector General of Police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the situation.
