CLOGSAG calls off strike
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its strike following a productive meeting with government officials.
CLOGSAG made the decision after consulting with the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Friday, July 12, 2024.
CLOGSAG declared in a statement that both parties had displayed a willingness to resolving lingering issues with the civil service and local government compensation system.
"The Government of Ghana, represented by the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), on the one hand, and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) on the other hand met on 12th July, 7024."
“The Parties showed commitment towards the resolution of pertinent issues relating to the salary structure for the Staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service.”
According to CLOGSAG, the government has said that the wage structure process will be finished by October 31, 2024, and implemented on January 1, 2025. Based on this agreement, CLOGSAG has agreed to end the strike immediately.
