Swiss Delegation Visits COCOBOD to Foster Cocoa Cooperation

Accra, Ghana - 21 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's cocoa industry has received a boost as COCOBOD hosts a Swiss delegation to discuss key areas of cooperation in the cocoa value chain.

The meeting, led by Swiss Ambassador Simone Giger, reaffirmed Switzerland's commitment to supporting Ghana's cocoa sector development and strengthening existing partnerships.

At the forefront of the discussions were ways to ensure decent incomes for cocoa farmers, promote sustainable cocoa production, and enhance ongoing collaborations. These talks are a significant step towards improving the livelihoods of Ghanaian cocoa farmers and promoting environmentally friendly cocoa production practices.

Ghana and Switzerland have a long-standing partnership in the cocoa sector, with Switzerland being one of the largest markets for Ghanaian cocoa. This collaboration has led to various initiatives aimed at improving the sustainability and quality of Ghana's cocoa production.

In recent years, COCOBOD has implemented several projects to enhance the cocoa value chain, including the Cocoa Management System, which aims to capture data on cocoa farmers, their farms, and their children to ensure better monitoring and support.

The meeting between COCOBOD and the Swiss delegation is expected to yield positive outcomes for Ghana's cocoa industry, including increased support for sustainable cocoa production, improved incomes for farmers, and strengthened partnerships between the two countries.
