Accra, Ghana - 13 Jan, 2025 - Dr. Dominic Ayine, the Attorney General and Justice Minister-Designate has thrown his weight behind the government's "Operation Recover All Loot" (ORAL) team, describing it as a vital tool in the fight against corruption and the recovery of stolen state resources.

Appearing before Parliament's Appointments Committee, Dr. Ayine dismissed concerns about the team's legality, arguing that its operations are in line with the principles of accountability and good governance enshrined in Ghana's 1992 Constitution.

He maintained that the team's primary objective is to hold politically exposed persons accountable for misusing public office to amass wealth through illicit means.

“If you look at the preamble to our Constitution, it is very clear about the fundamental values underpinning it. The value of accountability is one of the principles articulated in the preamble,” he stated.

“ORAL is supposed to exact accountability from politically exposed persons who misuse their office to loot public resources by way of property, money, and other intangible resources. And so, ORAL is constitutional,” Ayine asserted.

“The fact that it is a non-legal body doesn’t mean it is illegal'', he added.
