Why should EC be afraid if they do not have anything to hide? - Nyaho-Tamakloe
Accra, Ghana - Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed concerns over the Electoral Commission's refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voter's register before the December 7 election.
He believes this refusal indicates deeper issues within the Commission.
This development comes after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) accused the EC of refusing to allow a forensic audit, citing anomalies such as illegal vote transfers. The NDC's concerns have sparked a heated debate about the register's integrity and the electoral process.
Speaking on JoyNews, he said, “Let me give you an example. Imagine I stole your car and your car is parked in my house, and you brought in policemen to check if the car is with me. There is every indication that the car is with me but I will be preventing you from entering into my house; that is what they [EC] are doing.”
“Why should they be afraid if they do not have a problem with forensic examination? Why should they be afraid if they do not have anything to hide?," he added.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe is urging Ghanaians to adopt a non-partisan approach to addressing the nation's challenges, emphasizing that the country's problems transcend political affiliations.
“Where we are now, it is not a partisan affair. We are getting into a very serious problem. It's not about NPP or NDC or any other party hanging around. We must look at this nation now. This nation is already a failed nation.”
“Things are getting worse and I am getting worried. I know there are elders my age and they have gone silent for reasons I don’t know. I hope with the sort of alarm bells from the trade union organisations and other sectors, that Ghanaian will sit up now,” he stated.
