We will protect and enhance free SHS and TVET - Bawumia assures Ghanaians

The New Patriotic Party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that his administration will improve the Free Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.

Speaking at the NPP's manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday, Dr Bawumia emphasized the importance of these educational programs in the country's progress and the future of its youth.

He stated that his administration would work to ensure that every Ghanaian child, regardless of financial circumstances, has access to an excellent education.

The Vice President announced many planned initiatives to strengthen these programs, including increased funding, improved infrastructure, and the implementation of new curriculum geared to match the demands of the modern job market.

He also highlighted his plans to increase access to TVET programs, ensuring that more students may benefit from vocational training and gain the skills needed in a variety of industries.

“We will protect and enhance the free SHS/TVET, which is truly transforming lives and changing life outcomes for millions,” he noted.

Adding “Since we started free SHS/TVET, enrolment has increased by 83%. We are building the foundation for a well-educated, prosperous society. With free SHS/TVET, we have achieved gender parity. More girls are getting secondary education, and the impact will be positive for society. We will recruit more teachers at all levels, with improved conditions of service," he said
