Prof. Christiana Hammond makes history as UniMAC's first female Rector
Accra, Ghana - In a groundbreaking move, Professor Christiana Hammond has been appointed as the Rector of the Institute of Journalism at the University of Media, Arts and Communications (UniMAC), becoming the first female to hold this position.
This milestone marks a significant step forward for women in leadership roles in academia in Ghana.
Prof. Hammond brings a wealth of expertise to her new role, boasting an impressive academic background as an Associate Professor in Intercultural Communication and Pragmatics.
Her research has focused on various areas, including identity studies, pragmatics, and intercultural communication, with publications in renowned platforms such as ORCID, Researchgate and SAGE.
A passionate advocate for gender equality, Prof. Hammond has also made significant contributions to her country.
Notably, she was part of a team tasked with analyzing educational materials in basic schools to identify the prevalence of ESD indicators and 2030 SDG Learning Objectives in Ghana's Education Policy Documents and Curriculum.
