Accra, Ghana - Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has been enstooled as Ga Nɔyaa Mantsɛ (Development Chief) in the Ga traditional area.

The colorful ceremony, held at the Ga Mantsɛ Stool House in Accra, saw Nunoo Mensah conferred with the title "Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I" in recognition of his exceptional contributions to sports development and service to the nation.

The newly installed Development Chief expressed gratitude to the Ga Mantsɛ and the traditional council, stating, "I am humbled by this great honor."

"I dedicate this title to the entire sports fraternity and pledge to continue working tirelessly to promote Ghana's sporting excellence," he said.

"This chiefdom is not just an honor for me, but also a responsibility to continue serving Ghana and promoting the values of excellence, discipline, and teamwork," he added.

Meanwhile, Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, praised Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I for his tireless efforts in promoting Ghanaian sports and youth development, urging him to remain focused on his new responsibilities.

"Nii Kojo has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the growth of sports in Ghana," King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said. "This honor is a testament to his tireless efforts and selfless service to our nation," he stated.

As Ga Nɔyaa Mantsɛ, Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I will support the completion of key development projects initiated by King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II in the Ga State.

Nunoo Mensah announced plans to focus on youth development through education, providing scholarships to deserving indigenes via the King Tackie Teiko Tsuru Education Fund.

As GOC President, Nunoo Mensah has significantly improved Ghana's performance in international competitions, promoting Olympic sports and supporting Ghanaian athletes.

Dignitaries from the sports fraternity, traditional leaders, and government officials attended the ceremony.

The Ga State already boasts a Development Queenmother, Madam Elizabeth Naa Anyema Nunoo, a renowned businesswoman and entrepreneur,who was enstooled in 2018 with the stool name Naa Anyema Ablade Okropong.

With the recent installation of Ben Nunoo Mensah as Ga Nɔyaa Mantsɛ, the Ga State will soon hold a coronation ceremony to officially recognize both development royals in their roles.
