NPA Introduces New Price Floor for Petroleum Products
Accra, Ghana - 18 Feb, 2025 - The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has set a new minimum price for petroleum products, effective February 16-28, 2025.
This means Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) must sell fuel at or above the set prices.
The price floor is GHȼ12.56 per liter for petrol, GHȼ13.45 per liter for diesel, and GHȼ14.26 per kilogram for LPG.
The NPA's move aims to ensure stability in the downstream sector and prevent price undercutting, which can destabilize the market. However, the new price floors don't include premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies, operating margins of Bulk Import, Distribution, and Export Companies, or marketing and dealer margins of OMCs and LPGMCs.
These costs will still be determined independently by the companies, following the country's price deregulation policy.
