NIB Takes Rev. Kusi Boateng into Custody Over Multiple Identity Allegations

Accra, Ghana - 14 March, 2025 - Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, a well-known Ghanaian pastor, has been detained by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) due to allegations of using using multiple identities, including a pseudonym, to conduct financial transactions.

At the center of a controversy since 2023 when Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa accused him of holding multiple passports under different names. Ablakwa claimed that Rev. Kusi Boateng used these multiple identities to engage in questionable financial dealings, including receiving GH¢2.6 million for the National Cathedral project under the pseudonym Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

Interestingly, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has cleared Rev. Kusi Boateng of dual identity allegations, stating that he holds a single Ghanaian passport issued under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

Despite this, Rev. Kusi Boateng has continued to face scrutiny, and the investigation into his alleged dual identity remains ongoing. The Human Rights Court previously dismissed an application filed by Rev. Kusi Boateng, seeking to prevent Ablakwa from making public statements about his involvement in the National Cathedral affairs.
