'My husband died and I fell in love with his brother – people call us sick but it's love'

A New Hampshire woman is defending her relationship with her brother-in-law after her husband's death.
Kaitlin was married to her late-husband Aaron for four years and had a son together, she told YouTube's LOVE DONT JUDGE. But things took a turn for the worse in their marriage when they both became addicted to drugs. While Kaitlin was able to get clean, Aaron died of an overdose in 2016.
As she was grieving she found comfort in Aaron's brother, Rory, who actually did not like Kaitlin very much when she was married to Aaron. But the two found comfort in each other after losing someone they both loved. "I was met with a side of her I'd never seen before," Rory said.
"We were definitely hesitant on letting our relationship be known to our families. We didn't want them thinking that we didn't care about Aaron," Rory added.
The hard part was breaking it to Aaron and Rory’s mother, who never in her wildest dreams thought the two would get together. "At first I thought how would Aaron feel – he would not be happy," she admitted.
But she says she has come to accept the pair. "You can't help who you have feeling for," she added.
After letting the ones closest to them know, Kaitlin shared her unconventional love story on social media. But she was met with harsh criticism. On TikTok, people have said the relationship "makes them sick." But the pair refuse to let strangers tear them apart.
"Something bad happened to her and something bad happened to me and we ended up finding comfort in one another, so the negativity doesn’t do anything to us." Rory said.
Kaitlin and Rory have now been together for seven years, have two children of their own and are raising their children from previous relationships together. Kaitlin's son Camden, who lost his dad at just 2-years-old, has a new father figure in his uncle.
"I had mentioned to Kate about me talking to Cam to see if he wanted to call me dad - Kaitlin was completely ok with it. His face lit up and I've been dad since," Rory said.#
Reflecting on their relationship Rory said: "I think we're good for each other."
