Mahama pledges to establish Medical Care Trust if elected
John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) presidential candidate, has promised to establish a Ghana Medical Care Trust if elected.
According to him, this organization will help people suffering from chronic ailments like kidney failure, diabetes, and other health issues.
He made the statement on August 24, 2024, at the introduction of the NDC manifesto in Winneba.
“I will establish the Ghana Medical Care Trust to support persons with chronic diseases such as kidney failure, diabetes, cancer, sickle cell, and hypertension and other health-related diseases,” he said.
“I will also introduce the community pharmacy concept and that will encourage people to go to their local pharmacy and have their blood pressure and sugar checked. So that if you have diabetes or high blood pressure, we are able to know early so that you can get treatment and be able to survive.”
Mr Mahama also promised to provide free primary healthcare services to reduce the financial burden of hospital fees.
