Chinese rocket crashes in accidental launch.
A private Chinese company's space rocket accidently launched itself during a test on Sunday, crashing into a mountainside.
Social media footage shows the Tianlong-3 rocket coming down to Earth and exploding on a hill in central China's Henan province. Tianbing Technology, the rocket's manufacturer, stated in a statement that there was a "structural failure at the connection between the rocket body and the test bench" that caused the rocket to lift off.
According to the statement, the rocket "fell into a deep mountain 1.5km southwest of the test bench" after its onboard computer shut down automatically. It further stated that there were no casualties from the disaster because everyone in the neighborhood had been evacuated.
Tianlong-3 is Chinese designed and manufactured and intended to be a reusable rocket.
