Capital City Cup: Sudanese duo abscond from Kotoko hotel in USA
A shocking development has marred Asante Kotoko's US tour as two Sudanese players, AbdoelKarem Yagoub and Esmat Abdulhamid, have gone missing from the team's hotel.
The players were part of Kotoko's contingent that traveled to the USA for a friendly match against DC United, scheduled for October 12. However, the team withdrew from the competition due to visa issues affecting the remaining players.
According to Luv Sports sources sources, club officials discovered the players' disappearance on Friday night after they had requested to change money but were denied. CCTV footage shows the duo sneaking out of the hotel.
Team officials in the USA are frantically searching for Yagoub and Abdulhamid to ensure their safe return. The players were initially expected to return with the team on Sunday, October 13.
This incident casts a shadow over Kotoko's international engagement and raises concerns about player management.
Asante Kotoko management has yet to comment on the incident. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been informed and is monitoring the situation.
